received his B.A. Degree in Finance from California State University, Long Beach, and graduated from Southwestern University School of Law, in 1972.

Mr. Sundstedt’s successful 39-year criminal law career in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office culminated with his four year appointment as Assistant District Attorney under Gil Garcetti (second in command to Garcetti), where he served as the Supervisor of Central Operations and Branch and Area Operations, and where he also served as the Chairman and final decision maker of the Special Circumstances Committee,

the elite group within the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office that decides those criminal law cases in all of Los Angeles County which would be prosecuted as capital offense (death penalty) cases. Since March, 2001, Mr. Sundstedt has been in private criminal law practice.

In addition to his 175 plus criminal law jury trials, Mr. Sundstedt has tried several jury trials which have been argued and affirmed at the California Supreme Court level, and numerous criminal cases which were affirmed and/or published in the California District Court of Appeals. Mr. Sundstedt’s criminal law trial experience ranges from capital cases to misdemeanor offenses.

Presently, Mr. Sundstedt is admitted to practice law before all California courts. Mr. Sundstedt has been a fellow in the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers since 1996.
